William Fry

–

Tooele, Utah

William Ted Fry was born July 5, 1963, in Crawford, Nebraska, and passed away September 8, 2026, in Tooele, Utah, at the age of 63.

Bill had fought a short battle with cancer. Bill spent most of his childhood in Nebraska and Leadville, Colorado. Bill’s dad Teddy Fry Jr., passed away in Leadville when Bill was nine years old. The family later moved to Tooele.

Bill was an adventurer and loved to travel. He hitchhiked most of the western states when he was younger. He had attended Utah Valley Technical College for automobile repair and maintenance, doing many car repairs for friends and family. Bill had several jobs including the light show programmer for his friend Byron Maxfield’s band in the early years. He lived on a ranch in Idaho that raised and showed Peruvian Pasos. He won several showmanship awards riding in complete Peruvian attire in horse shows. He also had a landscaping business in Reno, Nevada. He loved making lawns into a show place. Bill spent many years as a truck driver. He really enjoyed that life because he got to travel. He drove a water truck in Vernal, Utah, in the oil fields. He earned the nickname Lizard because he liked to chase and try to catch lizards. Bill’s proudest achievement in truck driving was being able to back a semi between two jets at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, without touching the wings of either plane.

Bill married Tracy Lozano in Les Vegas in 2002. They did not have children together. Tracy passed in September 2021.

Bill loved animals and always had a dog. He often said he wished he had an acreage so he could raise lots of animals. He was a very loving and gentle person. No matter where he was, he always kept in touch with family. He was well liked by everyone that knew him. Supervisors and fellow employees were considered friends.

Bill is survived by his mother, Joanne Shugart of Tooele; his sisters, Patricia Fonger (Ken) of Tooele; Connie Nelson of Tooele; and Laura Caldwell (Jeff) of Tooele; his brother, Michael Shugart (Shelby) of Narrows, Virginia; his aunts, Cindy Morrison (Jack) of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and Lois Fry of Wichita, Kansas; his uncles, Steve Callicoatt (Christy) of Jackson, Tennessee; and Joe Dunlap of Cheyenne, Wyoming. He had no children of his own, but he has two stepsons, Vincent Lozano (Valerie) of Salt Lake City; and Simon Lozano of Las Vegas. There are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who mourn his passing.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., at the Tooele City Cemetery, 361 South 100 East, Tooele, Utah. A light luncheon will be held for family and friends following the graveside at the LDS church, 777 Skyline Drive, Tooele, Utah.
