Valerie (Val) Jeannette Brewer 71, of Magna, Utah passed on from this life Friday, August 27, 2021, after complications following esophageal cancer. Valerie was born July 11, 1950, in Los Gatos, California to Villard James Brewer (Val) and Wilma Janette Brewer (Miller). She was the eldest of three children. Valerie and her brother David were very close throughout the years. She loved David and her sister Lori dearly. Valerie graduated from Los Gatos High School in 1968. She attended West Valley College in Saratoga, CA where she majored in English and Preforming Arts. She went on to teach English and Drama, act, and belly dance on stage, and worked as a cocktail server where she enjoyed making friends and immersing herself in other cultures. She moved to Utah in 1980, making the move back to California twice before settling in Utah in 1991. Valerie was a talented singer, guitar player, dancer, actress, pastel and charcoal artist and first class grammarista. In her younger years she enjoyed time on the beach, making friends from all walks of life, fighting for the rights of all, making candles of rainbow wax in driftwood, drawing with charcoal and pastels, spending time with her dog Jude, and singing Joan Baez, Linda Ronstadt, The Beatles, and Fleetwood Mac songs while playing her guitar. As the President of the Los Gatos chapter of The Beatles fan club, Valerie handed the key to the city to The Beatles and was showcased in the local newspaper in 1964 at the age of 14. She went on to have three daughters and three marriages before meeting the love of her life, Terry in 1986. Valerie was always Terry’s brown-eyed girl. He made it known to everyone by singing “Brown-Eyed Girl” consistently over the years. At the end, he sang her song one last time while holding her hand, comforting the love of his life. They loved each other for 35 years. Valerie was known and loved for her lifelong love of animals; time spent with her beloved Terry, her dogs, having meaningful conversations with her grandchildren, teaching correct grammar, loving and accepting everyone for exactly who they are and where they are in life, always teaching her daughters to be proud of who they are and where they came from, her sharp, irreverent and sarcastic sense of humor, her interest in all things paranormal, her childlike wonder, a unique sense of style, being an avid reader of fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, loving her family and friends, 1970s music and always watching her cartoons. Valerie is survived by her Life Partner- Terry Lee Hall of Magna, UT, Daughters- Jocelyn Owens (Chris) of Omaha, NE and Maya Vazquez (Israel) of West Jordan, UT, Adopted Daughter- Debbie Hansen of Logan, UT, thirteen grandchildren- Taylor, Dominique, Uel (Erin), Chanelle (Lathan), Noel (Cecilia), Joshua, Salem (TJ), Antonio (Marissa), Lillee, Isabelle (Branden), Arik, Morgan (Per Meh) and Issak- great grandchildren, brother David Brewer (Diane) sister Lori Brewer, many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Her service dog Cherokee and dogs Morocco and Sequoia were her babies that she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her father- Villard (Val) James Brewer 1926-2000, her mother- Wilma Janette Brewer (Miller) 1930-2002, her daughter- Sarah Grace Stovall 1968-2010, and her beloved fur babies, dogs- Jude, Jack, and Egypt. A memorial Celebration of Valerie’s Life will be held at a future date.
