Utahna Alexander Obituary (1969 - 2021)

Utahna “Tawny” Hoffman Alexander, age 52, passed away peacefully after a courageous 5yr battle with cancer on Friday, January 15, 2021, at her home in Tooele, Utah surrounded by love. Tawny’s mom Diane, sister Shoni, daughters Brittany, Haley, Hannah and Husband Kelly were by her side as she gained her wings that we all knew she had. Tawny was born in 1969 in Evanston, Wyoming to Gordon Hoffman and Diane Meyers. She married her first husband Tiken Sam Towne in 1985. Utahna had her first daughter Brittany Elise in 1986. She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in early childhood education in 1995. Tawny married her second husband and soulmate, Kelvin “Kelly” Lee Alexander in 1995. Kelly brought 2 daughters, Kristen Marie, and Jessica Lynn into the Unity. Together they had two more daughters, Haley Anne Alexander and Hannah Cheyenne Alexander in 1998 and 2005 respectively. Tawny loved her education degree and helped many people as an adult GED teacher for 10yrs in Nevada. She loved children and worked at Copper Canyon Elementary and Harris Elementary in Tooele until her diagnosis in 2016. Tawny is known for her love of crafts, magical creatures, and stories. She valued family above all else and felt most happy surrounded by her many grandchildren. Utahna is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ken and Helen Hoffman, David and Edna Gerrard. Father Gordan, and stepfather Frank Meyers. She is survived by her mother Diane Meyers; Husband and soulmate Kelly Alexander, siblings Shane Hoffman, Shoni (Jim) Oldham, Tashina (Adrian) Kuhn, Matt (Megan) Meyers, Dave (Kim) Meyers, Brett Hoffman, Shalan (Alexis) Hoffman, Shannon Hoffman, and Feyan Hoffman. Daughters Kristen (Tony) Savee, Jessica (Jerrod) Sonderman, Brittany (Andy) Giesbrecht, Haley (Leo) Alexander, and youngest daughter Hannah Cheyenne Alexander. Eleven adored grandchildren, Austin, Madelyn, Bryson, Addison, Karalyn, Ann-Marie, Norman, Elise, Cole, Evelyn, and Leon, along with many more Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and many Cousins. Tawny beat cancer everyday by refusing to let the disease dictate or rule her life. She woke up every morning with the spirt of a warrior, and a heart filled with love of family, compassion and friendliness to all she encountered. Thank you to everyone who supported and loved her during her battle with cancer. A special thank you to the remarkable people at the Huntsman Cancer Center for their never-ending care and support throughout this long hard journey. Too many to name but Tawny knew all by first name. We can all find peace in the knowledge that she is not suffering and is resting in the arms of the Lord. At Tawny’s request there will be no services at this time. She wished for a celebration of her life at a later date when all her family and friends could attend.
