Sherrie L. Gnora, 78, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026.
She was born July 18, 1948, to Vernal and Arlene Jackson, the second of five children, and grew up in Lyman, Utah.
Sherrie later moved to Salt Lake City, where she worked at the Church Office Building. She also worked for 20 years as a cook for the Jordan/ Tooele School District, and she worked at the bowling alley at Tooele Army Depot.
She met the love of her life and her pain in the “A” Larry Gnora, and they were married within a few months. Together they shared more than 51 years. They had two children, Georgette (Damon) Tanner and Andy Gnora, and she lived life to the max for them.
Sherrie was a strong warrior and a fighter for life for so many years. She was stubborn, spontaneous, the life of the party, and a homemaker. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, daughter, nana, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Her smile was full of life, and she had a laugh that lit up her whole face. She had a twinkle in her eye that let you know she was proud of you and loved you.
It is time for you to rest now, Mom.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Gnora; daughter, Georgette (Damon) Tanner; son, Andy Gnora; grandchildren, Darrian (Brandon) Stein, Tyler Thompson, and Brantly Gnora; great-grandchild, Sloane Stein; siblings, Jack (Joanne) Jackson, Don (Gayle) Jackson, Marie Jackson, and Calvin (Leana) Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, Utah. Following the viewing, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Tooele City Cemetery, 361 South 100 East, Tooele, Utah.
