Diane Ethington Obituary (1951 - 2023)

On Thursday morning March 23, 2023, Queeta Diane Ethington, age 71, returned back to our Heavenly Father. Diane had developed an undetermined Parkinson’s-like disease in the past few years that affected her mental and physical health until she passed peacefully in her sleep in the Sandy Health and Rehab center in Utah. Diane was born May 4, 1951, to Harley Gaston Brown and Joan Doris Brown in Calipatria, CA. She graduated from Brawley Union High School and attended San Diego State. During that time, she met David Gibson Turner and after investigating The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she decided to be baptized. They were married on November 11, 1972. Together they had eight children and made their home in the San Diego area for 35 years. They both had beautiful voices and loved to sing, inspiring their children to join them in the ward choir, jokingly making up half of it at times. She was passionate about her children, music, finding a good deal, disaster preparedness, gardening, and family pets ranging from rats, birds, dogs, cats, snakes, a dwarf goat, and a potbelly pig. She had a strong faith and love of Christ. In April of 1996, her husband Dave suffered several strokes in the same week after a blow to his head on a roller coaster. Despite that and several other hardships, Diane did everything in her power to keep the family together, fed and sheltered in their home of many years. She trained to be a Registered Nurse Assistant and worked at the San Diego Children’s Hospital, helping care for many sick children and infants. With his youngest children, Dave moved to Boise, ID in the summer of 2005 and a few months later Diane moved up there as well. After finding a house, she realized she had moved within a 5 minute walk of Dave and the kids. In 2012 she moved to Preston, ID and met James Ethington. They married and Diane got to live her dream of working on a farm, raising chickens and a few jersey cows. She also accompanied James as he drove across states for a trucking company. In 2017 Diane moved in with her son Brian and his family in West Jordan, UT, where she continued to tend her garden and spend time with her grandchildren until Covid caused complications in the beginning of 2021 and she needed to live in assisted living facilities in Sandy, UT. She was preceded in death by her father, her 1st husband Dave and her sister Debora. She is survived by her mother, her 2 sisters, Michelle Miranda and Jozanne Brady, 8 children, 2nd husband James, 2 step-children, 12 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Children are: Matthew (Hollie) Turner of North Las Vegas NV, Jennifer Turner of Boise ID, Brian (Heidi) Turner of West Jordan UT, Douglas (Amanda) Turner of Ogden UT, Holly Turner of Herriman UT, Liz Jaeger of Beaver Creek OH, Meredith Fisher, and Zackery Turner of West Jordan UT. Grandchildren: Adam, Destiny, Ian, Kip, Eric, Belle, Claire, Mace, Deacon, Mandolin, Emme, Charlie.
