Patricia Bernot-Vargas

–

Tooele, Utah

Patricia Suzanne Agathe Bernot Vargas, a loving, adventurous, resilient, and charismatic soul, was born on November 18, 1965, in Stains, France. She passed away on June 20, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. Throughout her life, Patricia exemplified the spirit of Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. In verdant pastures he gives me repose; beside restful waters he leads me; he refreshes my soul. He guides me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side with your rod and your staff that give me courage."

Patricia lived an eventful life, sharing her adventures with her beloved husband, Vincent Vargas, her first husband Steve Miller, and her cherished children, Madeline (Patrick) Burden and Nathan Miller. Her joy was multiplied by her granddaughter, Charlotte Burden. Patricia's family was her greatest treasure, and her resilience in her battle with cancer was fueled by her love for them. She was a devout Roman Catholic, actively involved in the Council of Catholic Women of St. Marguerite Catholic Church, where she was honored as the 2023 Woman of the Year. Patricia's faith sustained her throughout her life, and her involvement in the church choir brought joy to all who heard her sing.

An accomplished woman, she attended university for foreign languages in France where she obtained a degree. While her emphasis was on being a mother and homemaker, she also was a dedicated United States Postal Service employee. Patricia's hobbies included traveling, being outdoors, and all sorts of crafts like quilting and refinishing furniture. She spoke English, German, and French fluently, and her talent for creating a warm and beautiful home was admired by all who crossed her threshold. Patricia was also a skilled martial artist, having earned a black belt in Ryobu-kai karate, exemplifying her fighting spirit. She is survived by her mother, Georgette Bernot; siblings Daniel Bernot, Pascal Bernot, and Sylvie Bernot; and was preceded in death by her father, Michel Bernot.
