Marie (MacArthur) Welsh Obituary (2014)

Marie R. MacArthur Welsh Marie MacArthur Welsh, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born July 2, 1929 in Lucerne, California to John and Susan MacArthur. She married John J. Welsh “Jack” in Vallejo, California, September 10, 1950. They had 64 wonderful years and three children together. Marie and her family moved from California in 1962 where Marie immediately became an active member of Saint Marguerite Catholic Church, where she served on the parish finance committee and was named Woman of the Year for her outstanding contributions to her parish as well as civic organizations. She was a member of the Council of the Catholic Women and held various offices as well as president. She was also a member of Laureate Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and TAD Women’s Club. Marie attended Healds Business College in California and Utah State Tax School. She stayed home and cared for her children, but once they were in college opened and operated her own tax preparation business. She is survived by her husband Jack and three children; Mark Welsh, Suzanne (Tom) Rainwater and Bob (Jackie) Welsh, who all loved her dearly, six grandchildren; Stephanie Welsh, Michael and Alec Welsh, Jonathan Rainwater, Tiffany (Jed Matthews) Rainwater, Joe (Lindsey) Rainwater, and four beautiful great grandchildren. Thank you to Cottage Glen and Rocky Mountain Care, (especially Brandi) for giving her such loving care. A special thanks to Barbara with Pine Mountain Hospice and all who helped Mom transition into the last stage of her life. A visitation, followed by a prayer service will be held Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Saint Marguerite Catholic Church, 15 South 7th Street, Tooele, Utah, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Saint Marguerite Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 – 10:45 A.M. Interment at Tooele City Cemetery. Marie led an extraordinary life because she always approached it with joy and optimism. Know that you will be dearly missed. May Perpetual Light Shine Upon You.
