Luana Hutchins

Luana Beth Russell Hutchins passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Thursday, December 1, 2022. She was born Sept 6, 1929 in Salt Lake City to Hyrum and Estella Russell. She was the
youngest of 6 children. She grew up on a farm in St. John, UT where she learned to love
outdoor sports like swimming, sledding, ice skating and riding horses. Luana also loved to
dance. It’s what led her to meeting the love of her life, Calvin. The two were married May 29,
1950 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 13, 1956. They were married for 69
years before Calvin’s passing in 2019. Together the two had four children, one daughter and
three sons. Ronald (Kathy), LeAnn, Gregory (Vicki), and LaMont. Luana was employed at
Tooele Army Depot, Dugway Proving Ground, and retired from the Tooele County Assessors
Office. Luana was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many
positions but enjoyed Primary the most because of the songs and children. She loved music,
singing, playing the organ, cooking and baking. She was gifted when it came to crocheting and
made many afghan blankets. She made sure each family member had a special blanket made
by her. Her family and friends were very near and dear to her heart and loved each and every
one of them in her own special way. She will be greatly, greatly missed. She is preceded in
death by her parents, siblings, and her only daughter, LeAnn. She is survived by her sons
Ronald, Gregory and LaMont, 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great
grandchild with another on the way. A viewing will be held at the Tate Mortuary Sunday,
December 4, 2022, from 6:00-8:00P.M. And again, Monday, December 5, 2022, from 9:30-10:45A.M. with the funeral to be held at 11:00A.M.
