After high school graduation Leola attended the LDS School of Nursing from September 1948, and graduated September 1951, passing her boards in October 1951, becoming a registered nurse. Leola always found satisfaction in nursing. During her time working in the medical field, she completed EMT training and advanced life support training. Leola was the Nursing Supervisor at the Dugway Health Clinic until her retirement from federal service after 32 years and then worked for the Tooele County Health Department for nine years until retiring. \n\nLeo and Jane Elieson had four daughters Irene Hobbs, Phyllis Herrera, Leola Hebert, and Emma Kelsch. Even though the four sister’s families were separated by miles they were always close. They enjoyed having yearly family reunions houseboating on Lake Powell and trips to Lake Tahoe, Padre Island, Las Vegas, Gordon and Dallas Texas. Leola was the only surviving member of her family. \n\nLeola met John Alfred Hebert while caring for him at the Dugway hospital where John was stationed in the Army. They were married in 1952, which John remained in the Army for 15 years after their marriage. They were fortunate to see different parts of the world. John’s duty stations included Maryland, Alaska, Alabama, and Okinawa, which Leola was able to join him on all of his assignments. \n\nDuring their worldly travels Leola and John had three children Michael Hebert, John Hebert (Susan) and Jana Powell (Steve). Leola had four grandchildren Jason Hebert, Shilo Staples, Bryce Powell (Alice) and Kevin Powell. Great-grandchildren are Hesten Staples, Paytin Staples, and Eric Powell. She was so proud of her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. \n\nLeola had her share of trying times being preceded in death by her husband John A. Hebert and both her son Michael Hebert, who died as an infant, and daughter Jana Powell, parents, and all three of her sisters. Though having to endure difficult times she remained positive. Her faithful dogs Peach’s and Buffy remained by her side helping Leola cope with the loss of her husband, daughter, and sisters within a short period of time.\n\nLeola will be missed by her family and friends.\n\nServices will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Tate Mortuary, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and services at 1:00 p.m.
