In Loving Memory of Layne Martin March 22, 1964 – May 12, 2025
Layne Martin was born on March 22, 1964, in Santa Rosa, California, to parents, Barbara and Jack Martin. As a child, he traveled the world alongside his mother and stepfather, Joe Keland, as a military dependent, eventually settling in California. Seeking new opportunities, Layne moved to Utah to pursue a career as a Journeyman Electrician. In 1990, he married Bobbi Dunn, and together, they welcomed their beloved son, Landon, in October 1992. Tragically, Layne lost Bobbi in a car accident in 1993, leaving him to raise their infant son with unwavering love and dedication.
Layne and Landon built a life together in Tooele, Utah, until fate led him to a chance encounter with Meriam during a vacation in Las Vegas. Their bond was immediate and enduring, culminating in their marriage in July 2008. In April 2009, they welcomed their son, Zayne, bringing even more joy to Layne’s life.
For 35 years, Layne worked as a Journeyman Electrician at Wasatch Electric, contributing to countless projects across Utah with skill and dedication. He was a passionate fan of the Oakland Raiders and an enthusiast of all professional sports, particularly PGA Golf. His love for the game extended beyond watching, he cherished the time spent golfing with his close friends and later with his son, Zayne.
Layne found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: playing poker with his buddies, hosting boxing and MMA pay-per-view events, and traveling the world with Meriam and Zayne. Their dream was to retire in the warm climate of Mesquite, where Layne envisioned spending his days golfing with dear friends.
A devoted husband, father, and friend, Layne embraced the outdoors, relishing camping trips and golf outings. He lived life with enthusiasm, generosity, and a deep love for those around him.
Layne was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara; his twin brother, Lon Martin; and his first wife, Bobbi Martin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Meriam; his son Landon and his wife, Margret; and his cherished golf companion, his son Zayne.
Layne’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
