Larry Shubert

–

Tooele, Utah

Larry Kay Shubert, age 85, passed away peacefully in his home on August 27, 2026. He was born on April 17, 1941, in Tooele, Utah, to Albert and Ellen Shubert. Larry was the youngest of five children, growing up alongside his two brothers and two sisters.

Larry married Linda “Kay” Fitzgerald on June 23, 1960, and together they raised three children. He worked as an auto mechanic and a mining millwright, spending many years with Mantes and several mining companies throughout the area, including IS&R Smelter, Anaconda, and Barrick Mercur Gold Mine. Larry also proudly served as a volunteer with the Tooele County Search and Rescue for over 50 years, dedicating countless hours to helping others. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Larry loved spending time outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He and his wife Kay could often be found at their favorite fishing spot, Strawberry Reservoir, enjoying the peaceful rhythm of the lake. At home, Larry was always tinkering in the garage, fixing or adjusting something with the curiosity and care he was known for.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kay; his three children, David (Shelly) Shubert, Camille Shubert, and Karen (Mike) Shubert; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special friend, Butch Niesporek, whose companionship meant so much to him—they always referred to each other as brothers. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, his two sisters, and his grandson, Justin Shubert.

A Last Call ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Tooele City Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at the Moose Lodge, 1100 E. Vine Street in Tooele, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
