Tooele, Utah
LaNile Christiansen Bracken (Nile) was born August 2, 1930, in American Fork, UT and
passed away on February 6, 2025, in Tooele, UT at the age of 94. She was the second of six children born to Byron Ray Christiansen and LaVerne Grantham.
Her childhood years were spent moving between Cherry Creek, NV and American Fork, UT. Her dad worked in the silver mines of NV. Her childhood homes were without electricity or indoor plumbing. Life during those years was not easy, but she was completely happy. The Christiansen family moved to Tooele in 1944, where she lived the rest of her life.
At age 15, LaNile found employment at Tate’s Confectionary in Tooele. While “jerking” at the soda counter she met a handsome hometown man who had just returned from the Navy. She married that young man, Floyd Dean Bracken, September 8, 1947, at the age of 17. Together they raised their family, Dean (Becky) and Diane Valdez (Richard) of Tooele and Bruce (Marcia) of Draper, UT. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by Floyd and Cadem Bruce Bracken, her first great-great grandchild. Floyd and LaNile were married in Elko, NV that was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1950. She served as Young Women’s president and Relief Society president among other callings.
After 25 years working at the Tooele Ordinance Depot, she retired in 1975. She and Floyd spent the next 15 years traveling the U.S and Canada. They loved spending the winter months in the sunshine of Arizona, golfing and enjoying life, but Tooele was home—forever and forever.
LaNile had a zest for life. She was loving, kind and generous with her time and means. She was driven to succeed at anything she did. The words “I can’t” were not in her vocabulary. Her mantra was, “watch me” and away she went. The family learned to support Mom in her goals or get out of the way. She taught her children to be honest and to cherish integrity and self-worth.
LaNile’s family wish to express appreciation to Our House Assisted Living and Canyon
Hospice who gave her loving care and attention when she needed it the most.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Skyline Ward, 777 Skyline Drive, Tooele, UT. Visitation will be from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
