Julie C. Lawson passed away on September 20, 2026, after a miserable battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s. She was a mother, daughter, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend who will be missed dearly.
Julie was born on January 12th, 1966, to John and Carol Cluff. She excelled in anything she put her mind to: 4-H state champ with the “Make It With Wool” contest; an excellent pianist; Tooele High School Sterling Scholar in Business in her senior year. She was devoted to her family and was always known as the coolest and most beautiful older cousin.
This talented beauty made an interesting choice when she threw her support behind a questionable character from Erda. This “gentleman” served some time on the mean streets of New York City. After doing his time, the young man returned home to discover that he had competition for Julie’s heart. He was being played! And he wasn’t one to play games. Julie was leaving on a trip and an ultimatum was dealt: who would she choose? The trip came and went, and there waiting for Julie was that young man with a single rose and a simple question: will you marry me? These high school sweethearts had found each other.
Julie and Shannon, soon to be Dr. Lawson, a dentist in Tooele, married in 1985. After attending dental school in Omaha, Nebraska, and moving back to Utah where they later settled in Erda, three kids kept them busy: Summer, Spencer, Savannah. Julie was a devoted mother and homemaker. She made her home a warm and welcoming place, always caring for the needs of others. She loved to see her kids do what they loved and supported each of them in her own special way.
Julie’s talent for sewing continued and quilting became her medium of choice. The beautiful quilts she created, each and every one with meticulous stitching, became a testament to her passion for sewing and sharing with others. Her treasured quilts have been given to family members and friends, neighbors, and ward members, and even strangers. Each one is filled with love, so much love. She could often be found with a fresh Diet Coke, glasses on her nose, working out a pattern in her sewing room.
Later came two wonderful sons-in-law: Austin Fackler, and Tenzin Yeshe Lazerson, and four really special grandchildren: Lawson, Rowan, Hayes Baxter, and Piper. We will all miss her beautiful blue eyes, her dazzling smile and laugh, and the love she shared with each and every person she met.
