In the spirit of his larger-than-life personality, we remember Jason Jon Garcia, known fondly by many as Jae. Born in Salt Lake City, UT on August 11, 1990, Jason was a wild mix of funny, thoughtful, courageous, and spirited, a combination as rare as a rooster laying an egg. He was the life of any gathering, as unpredictable and entertaining as his beloved pit bull on a leash.\n\nJason’s Spanish, learned in his loving Hispanic household, was as rusty as an old bike, but it was part of his charm. Raised by his doting grandparents, Florence and Florencio Bermejo, Jason was "spoiled rotten," as they would say. But, Jason was never one to let that go to his head. Instead, he paid it forward, spoiling everyone around him with laughter and love, especially his dear children, Jason Jr. and Ophilia. His mother, Yolanda Garcia, and brother, Nico Gonzales, often found themselves shaking their heads in amused disbelief at Jason's antics. He was the jester of their family, the knight in shining armor, and the glue that kept them all together.\n\nThough not much involved in religious activities, Jason was proud of his Catholic heritage. As we bid him farewell, we remember him through the words of St. Francis of Assisi: "Where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy." Jason was indeed that joy and light in our lives. His funny, thoughtful, courageous, and spirited nature will be greatly missed but forever cherished.\n\nPlease join us to celebrate Jason's life. His viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 11:00 am MDT at the San Felipe Catholic Church, 606 Aria Boulevard, Wendover, Utah, 84083. The funeral mass will follow at 12:00 pm MDT at the same venue.
