JANET MADSEN SPENCE 1928-2012 Janet Madsen Spence, age 83, passed away peacefully on Easter morning, April 8, 2012. She was born September 16, 1928 in Fairview, Sanpete, Utah, the first of three daughters born to Russell Q. and Leonora Christensen Madsen. She married William S. Spence of Rock Springs, Sweetwater, Wyoming on June 2, 1950, later solemnized on June 1, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended the University of Utah and Brigham Young University after graduating from North Sanpete High School in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. She was a life long and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving for many years in the Primary organization in the Tooele 6th Ward and as a visiting teacher. Mom loved spending time and visiting with friends and family. She was one of many family members who offered up much of what we know as the "Christensen hospitality". She was a wonderful homemaker who cared for her family, especially her husband and her mother up until their deaths. She is survived by her two sons: William R. (Deana) Spence of Pleasant Grove, Utah and Kenneth M. (Sharon) Spence of Tooele, Utah, and her sister Marguerite (Charles) Jackson, of Ivins, Utah. She is also survived by all of her loving grandchildren and their spouses; Alicia (Bob) Jackman, Autumn (Doug) Smith, Brynn (Casey) Losee, Logan (Camille) Spence, Aaron Smith, Aaron (Malia) Spence, Mark (Ashlee) Spence, Scott (Audrey) Spence, and Rick Spence, as well as17 great-grandchildren and many special cousins, nieces, nephews and other close extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Spence; parents Russ and Nora Madsen, and sister Marilyn Madsen. She was a deeply devoted mother and grandmother who loved her grandchildren and was able to see them all raised to adulthood. During the last several months of her life, Mom was cared for by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Deana Spence; along with personal care from many at the Alpine Valley Care Center in Pleasant Grove. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Tooele 6th Ward, Tooele Stake Center, located at 253 S. 200 E. in Tooele. Friends and family may visit between 9:30 -10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Tooele Stake Center. Interment will be at the Tooele City Cemetery.
