Tooele, Utah
James Norman Hansen, known as Jim, of Tooele, left his earthly home on January 16, 2025. He was born on February 28, 1936, in Jerome, Arizona, to Louie Lars Hansen and Mattie Dean Mahan Hansen. He had one younger brother, Donald (Elaine) Lee Hansen. Jim met Lorna Allred at BYU and they were married for time and all eternity in the Mesa, AZ LDS Temple. They have two children, Norman and Linda.
Jim grew up in Arizona and loved to tell stories of his childhood in Cornville by Oak Creek and on Garland Prairie. He was a cook, mechanic, and a firefighter raising his family in Arizona, San Diego, California, and finally moved to Tooele, UT, in 1981. After retirement, he worked as a janitor for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jim was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. Being able to attend the Deseret Peak Temple in Tooele was a great desire that he was able to achieve. Family history and temple work were important to Jim, and he spent much of his time indexing or researching his family roots.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Lorna, son Norman (Sharon) Hansen, daughter Linda (Jim) Elliott, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at the LDS church, 132 N 570 E, Tooele, UT, from 12:30 to 1:45 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Funeral service will follow at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, Jim has requested that donations be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Aid Fund or Missionary Fund.
