James Barrington

–

Tooele, Utah

After a three-year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, my dad passed away June 17, 2025.

James “Jim” Patrick Barrington was born on December 3, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Robert and Margaret (Kynsberg) Barrington. After growing up in the Tacoma, Washington area, his dad transferred his job to Tooele.

Jim graduated from Tooele High School in 1965 and married the love of his life, Peggy Featherstone, in 1967. Together they raised two daughters, Leigh and Lisa.

After taking an early retirement from the Tooele Army Depot, he worked several years for a couple of metal manufacturing companies, ultimately retiring from ATI.

He had a love for classic cars and model trains, spending many hours in his basement creating layouts for enjoyment.

Survived by his daughter Leigh, sister Margaret Ann Germain, sister-in-law Jeanne Barrington, brothers-in-law Jim (Marlene) Featherstone, Denny (Lori) Featherstone, and Bill (Sheryl) Featherstone, cousins, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by wife Peggy, daughter Lisa, parents, brother Denis, in-laws Howard and Rose Featherstone, and most recently sister-in-law Rita Shaner.

Many thanks to his pulmonologist Erin Blackstock, MD at Intermountain, the nurses and staff at Mountain West Medical Center, and his nurse and CNA at Quality Home Health and Hospice for their care and compassion in his final days.

Also thank you to Tate Mortuary for their care and kindness given to me at this difficult time.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 9:30-10:45am, at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, Utah. Following the visitation a memorial service will begin at 11am. Interment in the Tooele City Cemetery.
