Gerardo Castro

Gerardo Recendez Castro, or “Don Gera” as he was affectionately known, decided to hang up his brine shrimp net for the last time on May 17, 2023. Born on November 20, 1966, in Valparaiso, Zac. Mexico, he spent his days charming everyone around him with his funny, generous, caring, and reliable nature. He was proud to call Tooele, Utah his home, and even prouder that he got the opportunity to call himself an American citizen. A devoutly religious man, he would often say that his faith and family were what mattered most to him. And we can’t forget his love for the great outdoors and tinkering with anything mechanical.

A true family man, Gerardo was happily married to his beautiful wife Maribel and is survived by his five children: Alma, Carlos, Andres, Beatriz, and Daniela. He was really known for his sarcastic nature, and you can’t forget his grumpy attitude. He loved sharing laughs and spending time with his family and his dogs Princess, Aaliyah, and especially Sammy. Gerardo always looked forward to his trips to Mexico he loved horseback riding and being in his hometown.

On Wednesday May 17, 2023, the Castro family lost a grandfather, father, husband, brother and uncle. Gerardo was preceded in death by his father Andres Castro and his mother Maria Recendez. Though he is no longer with us, we know he will be watching over and guiding us. Our father left too soon and will be truly missed.

Rosary 10:30 am Thursday, June 1, 2023, at St. Marguerite Catholic Church 15 S 17 St., Tooele, UT 84074
Mass Thursday, June 1, 2023, 11 am – 12 pm
