Galfa Davis Obituary (2010)

Galfa "Gail" (Kokinakis) Davis Gail G. Davis died December 6, 2010 in Tooele. She was born February 17, 1917 in Tooele, Utah to Harry and Celia Kokinakis. She graduated from High School in 1936, and went to Chicago, Ill. to be with her sister. She went to Beauty School and graduated in 1938. She lived in Chicago and worked at a beauty shop until 1942 when she met her husband Ralph Davis and they were married. He was in the service, while he was overseas she came to Tooele and worked for Intermountain Contractors, then she was transferred to Vancouver Washington, and on to California, and back to Tooele until he returned to the States and followed him until he was discharged from the service in Mississippi. They moved to Jamesport, MO. where they owned and operated a Jewelry and Gift Shop where she worked and also worked part time for Farmers Produce. After selling the Gift shop she worked part time in a Craft and doll shop in Jamesport until she moved back to Tooele after he husband passed away. Gail loved her dolls and that was her hobby. She also did leather craft, painting and sewing. She loved doing crafts and taught a craft class for a number of years. She made and sold all kinds of dolls, but her special dolls were Amish dolls which she made for two shops one in town and one in Kansas City, Kansas. She loved to travel and do oil painting and was very active in the communities where she lived. She was a member of the Daviess County Senior Citizen Center and delivered meals on wheels for Daviess County as a volunteer. She belongs to the Ladies Aux 4131 VFW, where she served as President four years, Treasurer, Color Bearer for years, and served as District Color Bearer. She was a Charter Member and Lifetime member of Aux 4131 of Jamesport, Missouri. She was a 50 year plus member of the Eastern Star Chapter 119 of Missouri, Lifetime member of the Daviess County Historical Society of Gallatin MO. and Green Hills Art Club, plus several clubs in Jamesport where she lived on a farm. She was very active and loved by her many friends and family in Missouri and they will miss her visit every few years since she moved to Utah. She was a member of the Tooele Senior Center and a volunteer, had a craft class for a few years and belonged to the Tooele Line Dancers of the Senior Center. She was a member of the Senior Circle. She loved to be with friends and help in anyway she could. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother one brother and one sister in Tooele, her mother and father-in-law in Missouri, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law in Missouri. She is survived by a brother Nick (Anna) Kokinakis, one nephew Harry (Darleen) Kokinakis, two God children John R and Anna C, Kokinakis, great nephew Nicky H. Kokinakis of California and great niece Athena Walters of Tooele, four great nieces and 3 great nephews and many great great nieces and nephews in Missouri, Tenn, Ohio, and Florida. They will miss her very much. Funeral services were held Saturday December 11, 2010 at Tate Mortuary. Interment in the Tooele City Cemetery.
