Elizabeth Ann Nicholson

–

North Ogden, Utah

Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Nicholson was born in Tooele, Utah, to Ronald J. Nicholson and Paula (Parsons) Nicholson on May 30, 1976. She passed away in Ogden, Utah, on September 3, 2026, after a challenging battle with metastatic breast cancer.

When she was born the doctor saw her, and said, “Isn’t she beautiful!” and she was. Her first year of life was spent at Dugway Proving Ground and Ogden, Utah. Her family moved to Orem and then to Dutch John, Utah, where she lived until she was in second grade.

Her family then moved to Dugway Proving Ground again. She was an excellent student and had a great hook shot in basketball and ran relays in track. She graduated from Dugway High School with honors on May 26, 1994, and joined the Utah National Guard when she was 17. She then attended Brigham Young University for one semester and went to basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and earned the highest physical fitness training score of both men and women. She continued advanced training to become a medic in San Antonio, Texas, and also met and became engaged to Eric Waterman.

Eric and Elizabeth were married in the Salt Lake Temple June 16, 1994, (later divorced). Liz graduated with honors from Brigham Young University on April 24, 1998, with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Science and walked down the aisle to receive her diploma. About two months later, Alison Rae Waterman was born on June 19, 1998. Bradley Michael Waterman was born in Mesa, Arizona, about two years later on May 26, 2001. Elizabeth loved and adored her children and enjoyed teaching them at home for a while. They learned the state names and capitals at very early ages and learned about other countries and cultures. Later she taught classes to them and other children and parents about how to bond with your child through music. She loved her children and loved to take them to the Library and the Phoenix Zoo and to play at the park.

The family moved to Chandler, Arizona, and then to Folsom, California, where both Alison and Bradley graduated from high school. She was so proud when they both graduated from college and began their own careers.

She was pleased when Alison married Sampanna Bhattarai and Liz was thrilled to become a grandmother to Saisha Catherine Bhattarai.

Later in life she decided to live in Ogden, Utah. She enjoyed visiting both of her children in Wisconsin, Colorado, and Seattle.

She is survived by her children, Alison (Sampanna) and Bradley Waterman, granddaughter, Saisha Bhattarai, parents, Ronald Nicholson and Paula Thomas and brothers, Jason and Nathan Nicholson and numerous other family members.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Robert and Margaret Nicholson, and Richard and Marzine Parsons.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with a visitation prior from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m., at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, Utah.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Nikil Moodabagil, MD, MPH, Classical Hematology Lead and Medical Oncology and Anthony Casper, DO — Radiation Oncologist at McKay-Dee Hospital for their valiant efforts to assist Elizabeth.

We also appreciate and thank Tate Mortuary for their professionalism and assistance after Elizabeth passed away.
