Derrell Westbrook Obituary (1938)

Derrell Howard Westbrook was born on May 29, 1938 to Joel Howard and Marie Miller Westbrook in Alamosa, Colo. He is the oldest child of five: Carl (Diana) Westbrook of Montrose, Colo., Carolyn (deceased) (Gary) Anderson of Manassa, Colo., Elaine (Kelly) Mortenson of Creede, Colo., and Robert (Rema) Westbrook, Texas. Derrell married his sweetheart, Colleen Ann Hansen, on June 11, 1958 in the Manti Temple. They were blessed to welcome four children into their home: Kimberly (Alma) Stewart, Tooele, Lesa (Timothy) Giles, Tooele, Rick (Holly) Westbrook, Alpine, and Kathy (Greg) Van Wagoner, Tooele. He served faithfully as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His service included bishopric member, bishop, faithful home teacher, and his most beloved calling, an ordinance worker for the Salt Lake Temple for the last 13 years. Derrell was known for his valued work ethic. He worked as a teacher for the Tooele School District for 32 years. His love for life was foremost for his family. He loved sharing all the beauties of life with his children and grandchildren. Many hours were spent having family fun. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and working the land. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, children, 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws and one sister.
