David Farrar

–

Tooele, Utah

David Earl Farrar was 69 years old when he sloughed off his mortal coil. He resided in Tooele, UT, the place he chose to call his home until 6pm on Sunday, September 6th, 2026. He was born in Quincy, Illinois, on April 7th, 1957, to Earl and Patricia Farrar. He had four sisters, Debbie, Lisa, Tracey, and Melissa. He was married twice, once to Jean Lee and fathered two children, Nathanael and April Farrar. He later married Carolyn Carson, where two more children joined the bunch, August and Amber Krumm.

He graduated from Sangamon State University with a Master of Arts in Biology in 1989. He received his bachelor’s in microbiology and worked at Northrop King as a molecular geneticist, genetically engineering hybrid corn. At East Carolina University he worked in the oncology department and worked on a cure for killer bee stings and inserted cancer into a mouse and cured it. Him and his boss were on the news and everything. He also rebuilt train engines at Detroit Diesel where he eventually retired as a safety engineer.

Dad was a jack of all trades. He built two homes with his father from the ground up. He worked on every car he ever owned, including ours, and drafted up the schematics to the house he resided in. He was the biggest hobbyist I’ve ever met. His collections were vast and wide. From collecting and shooting guns, various handcrafted knives, wooden recorders, to every book under the sun about learning a new hobby through history. He could out read anyone under the table, reading his bible on the daily and making it thru it multiple times. He loved his LDS Ward where he tried to attend every Sunday, going camping to all the national parks, and riding his bicycle through all the trails. He also picked up photography, playing the guitar, and the flute. He sewed beautiful purses for his girls and quilts for his boy. His real passion was history though, and he was in the middle of writing a historical fiction book.

He is survived by his four sisters, three children, four grandchildren, with one on the way, one great-grandchild, his cat Sam and dog Fred. He was predeceased by his mother and father, second wife and oldest son.

Services will be held at 5pm on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the LDS Ward on 1025 Southwest Drive in Tooele. Who I’d like to thank for the planning and help with his funeral services followed by a luncheon provided by very generous volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Unfortunately, with a hobbyist lifestyle, he lived every day to its fullest and did not take into consideration life insurance. His daughters are left with trying to save the family home, so no one gets displaced. If I could ask for any small contribution, instead of flowers, it would be greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps. I’m only choosing Venmo instead of a go fund me, because they charge a fee to the person in need @April-Farrar-2 Thank you again.
