CELESTINO MEDINA JR. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather returned home to his Heavenly Father on August 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Celestino was born on March 14, 1939, to Eulogia and Celestino Medina in San Cristobal, New Mexico. During high school, he met the love of his life, Natalie Herzog, and the two were married on December 5, 1959. This December, they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage. Together, they raised four children: Danny (Sue), Troy (Sandy), Lisa (Frank), and Mike (Michele); 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren who loved him dearly.
Celestino was a devoted member of St. Marguerite Catholic Church, where he faithfully served in numerous roles dating back to the original church on Utah Avenue. His service included Parish Council President, Men’s Club President, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Catechism Teacher.
He worked at the Tooele Army Depot as a Quality Control Inspector for 33 years before retiring. Later, he continued serving the community by driving SPED students for the Tooele County School District for an additional 10 years.
A dedicated coach, Celestino spent many years supporting his sons and daughter in youth sports, always willing to drive teams to Salt Lake City for competitions. His family cherished countless camping and fishing trips to Soapstone Campground in the Uinta Mountains.
Celestino’s love for Notre Dame football was one of his greatest joys. On game days, his home became a lively gathering place filled with family, friends, and spirited ND traditions. He was fortunate to visit Notre Dame University twice attending two football games—first with his wife, and later with his sons and son in law—creating memories that became treasured stories in the Medina family.
He raised his family with a deep faith in God, respect for others, and a commitment to helping those in need. Holidays and family celebrations were always held in his home, where he served as the patriarch of a close knit family. He offered wisdom, counsel, and unwavering love—and never let anyone leave without knowing how much they were cherished.
All were welcome in his home, always greeted with a seat at the table and a warm meal. His family expresses their profound love and gratitude: Dad, Grandpa and Grampy, thank you for being our mentor, our hero, and our example. We love you so much and you will be deeply missed. Faithful servant, you have fought the good fight, you have finished your work. Godspeed, until we meet again. Via Con Dios
Celestino is survived by his wife, Natalie; his brothers John (Michelle) and Felix (Brenda); his sister Marcella Stookey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eulogia Silva and Celestino; his siblings Connie, Roger, Orlando, and Levi; and his grandson Jacob Celestino.
