Carlos Leyva

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, a devoted husband, caring and loving father, son, and brother gained his heavenly wings at the age of 29.

Carlos Josue Leyva was born in Los Angeles, California on October 6, 1993; the oldest of three children. Later in his young life, his family relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he lived his teenage years and met the love of his life Lizbeth Leyva- Dueñas, whom he then married.

Josue had an early start to his life; he and Liz welcomed their first child Angelyse at an early age and later welcomed their son Carlo. He loved training and attending Carlo’s jiu jitsu and kickboxing tournaments; they also enjoyed watching all the Rocky movies! Josue was incredibly proud of Angy’s accomplishments and knew she would do great things.

He enjoyed watching UFC fights with his wife and playing basketball (he had an unstoppable fadeaway and was one of the biggest Lakers and Kobe fans). He enjoyed being around his family and seeing them all together. Josue was always up for a good laugh and was a kind and caring soul.

Josue was a very hard worker, he had the odds against him from a young age, but he found a way to overcome those odds, and he became an example of hard work, devotion, and dedication. Even with Josue being everything we could imagine him becoming, he was always trying to figure out how to be a better husband, father, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He never stopped trying to be a better version of himself. He was a man of God and was guided deeply by his Catholic faith.

Josue is survived by his wife Liz, his daughter, Angy, and son, Carlo. As well as his parents Carlos and Claudia, and his siblings Cristian and Jocelyn.

He will be deeply missed.
