Shirley Jean Orr Andrus 84 passed away peacefully on December 9,2011, at her apartment at Alta Ridge Assisted Living, after spending an evening surrounded by her family. Shirley was born December 28, 1927, to William and Pearl Kauffman Orr, in Grantsville, Utah. She married Dennis D. Andrus Sr. on April 10, 1947 and soon after moved to Olympia Washington. After 15 years they moved back to their beloved Orr’s Ranch in Skull Valley where she had grown up as a child. They continued to live a happy and spectacular life on the Ranch until Dennis’s death in 2007. In addition to helping run the ranch with Dennis, she worked for the Army at Dugway Proving Ground until she retired in the late 70′s due to her failing eyesight. She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis and her four sisters Geraldine Wright, Lorraine Speirs, Doris Whear, Charlotte Bell and daughter-in-law Sandra (Bob) Andrus. She is survived by her three sons Dan (Jackie Wilde), Bob, and Rusty (Marc Jones); Grandchildren Derek (Tamson LeFevre) Brett (Lexi Darensburg), Matt (Jen Seals), Kate and McKinsey; Great Grandchildren Shane, Sam, Jordyn, Cru and Brevin, and soon to arrive Deklan. A viewing will be held Wednesday December 14th from 6 to 8 PM in conjunction with a celebration of her life from 6 to 10 PM all at the Stansbury Park Clubhouse, at 1 Country Club in Stansbury Park. Interment will be at the Grantsville Cemetery on Thursday at 2 PM, where Shirley will be laid to rest next to her dear and devoted husband. The family wishes to send a special THANKS for the loving care given to Shirley by the staff at Alta Ridge Assisted Living of Holladay.
