Stella Nash

Posted By on November 11, 2011

Stella Jane Shubert Nash, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, joined her Heavenly Father on November 11, 2011 after a short illness with pneumonia and kidney failure. Stella was within ten days of her 86th birthday. She was born November 21, 1925 to Albert Charles Shubert and Ellen Elizabeth Randall in Tooele, Utah and grew up through the Great Depression. She attended local schools and married Delbert Andrew Nash on September 5, 1941. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 13, 1953. She was well known among the people of Tooele having worked at the J. C. Penney store for forty years, retiring in 1988. Her family and friends were recipients of her talents in sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She was an active member of the LDS Church having served in many positions throughout her life, including serving as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple along with her husband. Her work with young women in the Mutual Program was well regarded. Later in life, she served untiring in compassionate service in the Relief Society, never missing a funeral. Music also was very important to her and she sang in the Ward Choir for many years. With her love of family, Christmas Eve gatherings at her home with her children and their families was a great tradition that lasted for many years. Who will ever forget the silver dollars she passed out to each family member. Because of the Depression and its resulting stresses on families, she wasn’t able to complete her high school education. This didn’t deter her. She carried a life-long dream of one day completing high school and receiving her diploma. That dream was realized when, at the age of 73, she returned to school and received her high school diploma in 1998. This included a Cap and Gown ceremony where she was one of the guest speakers. She was also chosen that year as the top State Adult Education student in the State of Utah. Her quiet presence, her regal nature, her calming demeanor, her constant service to all, her love of her husband, family, friends and Church, and finally her love of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are as beautiful a story as was ever written. It will be kept alive in our hearts forever! She is survived by her three children, Robert Frank Nash (Marilyn), Norma Jane Worwood (Wayne) and Linda Ann Rimington (David); 10 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, with one more on the way, and 3 great, great grandchildren, two brothers Walter Shubert (Betty), and Larry Shubert (Kay). She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert, parents, brother Albert Shubert. and sister Barbara Valdez, who have all welcomed her home with open arms. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, November 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main in Tooele, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17, including a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with services starting at 11 :00 a.m. at the Tooele 11th Ward Church building at 180 South Coleman in Tooele, Utah. Interment will follow the services in the Tooele City Cemetery , Tooele, Utah.

Dear Family: We wish the best for you as you say goodby to your mother. She was a good neighbor and we enjoyed her association at church in the old 11th Ward. Best wishes Mike and JoLynne Johnsen
