Robert D. Benson beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away tragically in an accident doing what he loved most, riding his motorcycle. He was born October 13, 1962 in Tennessee to Stanley and Eppie Benson. He grew up traveling with his parents who served in the US army. He lived in many places one of which he always talked about and loved Germany. He was a Boy Scout and played varsity football for 2 years. He graduated from Stuttgart American High School in 1980. He later met the love of his life Michelle in Sebastopol, California. They have three children together, whom he loved very much. Robert was the manager of an auto body shop in Draper. He loved his job very much. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and close family friends. He loved working on his motorcycle and riding with his wife. He leaves behind his wife Michelle, daughter’s Amber Callister and Megan Benson-Burke and son Matthew Benson, grandchildren Gage Callister, Kiersten Burke and Kira Callister. Mother Eppie Benson and father Stanley Benson and extended family the Porters. He will meet his baby brother Carlos in heaven who passed away May 30, 1991. Instead of sending flowers there has been an account set up at Mountain America credit union to help support his family. A viewing will be held at Tate Mortuary in Tooele on Wednesday May 18, 2011 from 11:00am thru 12:00pm with funeral services immediately following at 12:00. We would like to invite everyone to attend his burial following the funeral. Then a luncheon at his home 357 South Coleman Street following burial. Robert was a wonderful man who touched so many life’s. He will never be forgotten.

I’m sorry to hear of the loss of Robert. I knew him when I leaved in Germany, he was my first of everything and we had a son together. I don’t know if he ever talked about his son, but he knew. I know Eppie is taking this very hard, the whole family is. I’m sorry for the lose both to the family and my son who never got to meet him. I always talked good about him to his son.
