William Jacob Martinez “Jake”
August 30, 1990 – April 22, 2011

It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to our beloved Jakie. Our baby and our friend. The world will not be the same without his big bear hugs and his huge smile. Jake’s heart and soul were just too big to fit into this small world. William Jacob Martinez came to us August 30th, 1990. Born in Salt Lake City to Monica K. Morrison Martinez and Richard Martinez. From the beginning of his all to brief life he was a curious and thoughtful boy, always eager to please those around him and always concerned for others. His compassion knew no limits! He developed a deep love of music and writing at an early age and excelled at both. His depth and warmth were always on display and he poured these gifts into his original music and writing. He loved playing bass, guitar and keyboard and his music and words brightened our lives. His curiosity fed his giant intellect and allowed him to excel in school. If Jake was interested in a subject he would immerse himself into it thoroughly until he understood every aspect of it. All of his beloved friends and family knew that if they needed help with any subject they could ask him and he could explain it to them. There was no one better to call when a computer needed to be repaired or a homework assignment needed to be completed. He was truly gifted and whip smart. Family and friends were a tremendous joy to Jake! He loved our family trips to Duchesne and Lake Tahoe and couldn’t wait to hang with his Uncles and Cousins. He loved the music of Tool, Linkin Park and was always eager to see live music. His laughter was infectious! Jake is survived by his mother Monica, father Richard and his little sister Mauri whom he loved and protected always. Grandparents Ruben and Rafaelita Martinez. Uncles Rick Morrison, Kenny (Marie) and Ralph (Jill) Martinez and his Aunt Christine Lawrence. Godmother Ann Wolverton. Many beloved cousins and loving friends. Jake also leaves behind his dear friend Lacy Fors. He was preceded in death by his close friend Todd Wolverton, his grandmother Judy Morrison and his namesakes, William Morrison and Jacob Ortega. The vigil service will be Thursday, April 28th, 6 pm to 8 pm with the funeral Mass to follow on Friday, April 29th at 11am. Both to be held at St. Marguerite’s Church, 15 South 7th street in Tooele (435-882-3836). A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Elks Lodge social hall, 61 North Main Street in Tooele. Richard,
I was so sorry to hear about the death of your son. It has been awhile since you called on us at Donald C. Thomas Associates, but I remember some of the stories you related to us about your family! I have a son about the same age. I greive for you and hope your family finds the peace you look for at this time.

    Your friend,

    David Y. Thomas

  2. Monica Martinez says:

I miss you my son. You will never be replaced in any way shape or form. You live forever in my heart. -Mama
