Donald Howard Ettel

1959 – 2011

Our Loving Father, Husband, Son, Brother and Friend, Donald Howard Ettel, 51, of Stansbury Park, reunited with his son, Zachary Frances Ettel, on March 18, 2011 after a long but courageous battle with cancer. Don was born in Petaluma California, on October 14, 1959. He is the son of James and Judith Watson. Don married the love of his life, Shelly N. Pruitt on October 8, 2005. He was the proud father of Zachary and Taylor Ettel. He grew up on the beaches of Wilmington, NC. He was an old beach boy that left the beaches of North Carolina in the mid 80′s, but he loved it there and living the uncomplicated life. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, shooting, kayaking. He was an outstanding cook, which we aLL enjoyed. Don graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC, in 1977 and attended Cape Fear Technical College where he received a degree in Drafting and Design. Don was an accomplished Project Manager and his employment carried his life in many directions he was able to travel all over the world, but enjoyed being home with his family. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He left behind many wonderful memories and traditions. He was preceded in death by his son, Zachary. He is survived by his wife, Shelly Ettel (Stansbury Park, UT); son Taylor Ettel (Stansbury Park, UT); mother and father James and Judith Watson (Knoxville, TN); sister Janey Lynn Roth (Wilmington, NC); brother Jimmy Watson (Knoxville, TN) ; grandmother Georgetta Harrell “Nena”; mother and father-in-law Ralph and Neadath Pruitt (Huntington, UT); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A viewing was held Monday, March 21, 2011 at Tate Mortuary in Tooele, UT. Memorial Service was held Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Gordon Lane Stake Center in Stansbury Park, UT.
