Billy G. Cochran, 73, Beloved husband, father, brother, Opa, and friend, passed away Feb. 18, 2011, Tooele, UT of respiratory failure and complications of C.O.P .D. (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease ) Billy G. was born in Parcoal, WV on act. 9, 1937 to Gaylord W. and Mary Belle (Wilson) Cochran, the third of eleven children. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ted and Gaylord and his beloved granddaughter, Jenna, who welcomed him with open arms. In 1955, at age 17, he joined the U.S. Army. He was sent to Germany where he met and married the love of his life, Annamaria (Loreth) Cochran. Together they raised 4 children. He served honorably for 27 years before retiring in 1982. From 1982 to his final retirement in 2008 he continued to serve his country as a loyal employee with and for the US Government. He always strove to be the best-he went from a PVT to the top rank of Command Sergeant Major in the Army and from a security guard to the Chief of Police and Security at Dugway Proving Grounds. Billy G. was a proud, 2 time Vietnam Vet and his sacrifices there ultimately shortened his life and took him from us. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Annamaria, his children, Belinda (Chuck), William (Sandy), Barbara (Brian), and Trish (Brian), his grandchildren Brooke, Steven, Ryan (Amber), Billy, Alex, and Lindsay ,as well as his siblings, their spouses, nieces, and nephews. And many others who considered him their Opa, too. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Not a day went by where he didn’t say how much he loved his family. He was our rock. He will be dearly missed! We love you, Opa! A viewing will be held Wednesday, 2-23-11 from 6-7 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be on Thursday, 2-24-11 at 11:00 a.m., friends may call one hour prior to mass. All services and mass will be at St. Marguerites Catholic Church, 15 So. 7th Street, Tooele, UT. Internment will be at the Utah State Veteran’s Cemetery at Camp Williams, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd, Bluffdale UT. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Lung Association of Utah, 1930 So. 1100 E., SLC, UT 84106.
