Ronald Ivo Christensen passed away Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010. He was deeply loved by his wife Barbara and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was born on April 16, 1933, the eldest son of James Ivo Christensen and Mildred Christofferson Christensen. Ron graduated from Tooele High School and continued his education at the University of Utah, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in banking finance. He then served in the Air Force for four years as an accounting and finance officer. While stationed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he met his beautiful wife, Barbara. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple, and continued their loving courtship through 52 full and happy years. An avid supporter of his community, he served as president of the SUP , Settlement Canyon Chapter, President of the Tooele Chamber of Commerce, member of the Lion’s ,Club, Utah State AGC President, on the national AGC Board of Directors, and regional Board of Directors for Key Bank. Ron was co-owner of Christensen & Griffith Construction. He lived a life of service in the LDS church, serving faithfully in ward and stake callings, including teacher, scout master, young men’s president, elder’s quorum president, bishop, stake young men’s president, stake high council and stake patriarch. Ron had a passion for early American history, especially the Civil War era. He enjoyed finding and collecting war memorabilia. He also loved to travel to new and interesting places. Always extremely supportive and proud ofhis family, he is survived by his wife Barbara, his children, Sherry Roberts (Dave), Scott Christensen, (Janet), Kenneth Christensen (Sharie), Mark Christensen (Carol), and Tracy Frailey (Paul). He is also survived by his sisters Naomi Griffith (Gary), and Elaine Cherry (Stan). He is remembered with appreciation and deep love by his 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A special thanks to Dr. Brandon Bentz and the staff of the Huntsman Cancer Institute. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, in his name, would be gratefully accepted. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29,2010, at Tooele Fourth Ward Chapel, 192 West 200 South, Tooele, at 11 :00 a.m. A viewing will be held Tuesday at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main, Tooele, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, at the Tooele Fourth Ward Chapel from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Tooele Cemetery.
