To my friend Byron,
I had a feeling when I talked to you last, that would be the last time. I wanted to say some things but never said them in the hopes of “being positive”. So I want to take this moment and tell you “thanks”. Thanks for being an inspiration, a leader, and (most of all) a good christian in my life. Thanks for always looking out for your fellow man and being a voice towards keeping our civil liberties. But most of all, thanks for being my friend. Your constant love and affection and words of wisdom will always be with me. I can’t help but smile when I think of all the bald-headed jokes and teasing about the scars on your head from numerous little garage accidents. You always hear “the world is a better place because of this person”; in this case, it really is, because you have left a mark of love and peace in the hearts of everyone who knew you. I know that for a fact, because every time I hear your name, I have to smile. That smile causes an inner joy that will never go away. To Kathi, and your family, my heart goes out to them and I thank them for sharing you with the world. ….. Byron, I cry as I write this, but I know you are standing next to God now, and I pray you will help watch over me throughout my life. So, my friend, rest in peace, until we meet again.
