Muriel Jean Ekenstam, age 71, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, November 7, 2010, in Tooele, Utah, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Corning, New York, on February 9, 1939 to Edith Irene Benjamin and Russel James Hill. She married Dean Ekenstam on December 21, 1990. He preceded her in death. Jean was a CNA for 30+ years, and she loved to play Keno, read, and sew. Her favorite pastimes were finding antiques with her loving husband Dean and spending time with her family and friends. Jean is survived by her children Mary Ann (Larry) Martin of Tooele, Utah, Tommy (Leora) Staub of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Jonathon Staub of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, James Kline of Mesa, Arizona, Timothy McDade of Salt Lake City, Utah, stepson David Ekenstam of Tooele, Utah, one brother Richard Henry Jackson of Watkins Glenn, New York, two sisters: Judy May Rice of Bathe, New York, Patricia Ann Ameigh of Prattsburg, New York, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters: Linda Staub Pacheco and Susan Bush, and one granddaughter Katerra L. D. Green. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, November 12th, at the Tate Mortuary Chapel, 110 S. Main Street. Memorial Services will follow at 11 a.m. Special thanks to Harmony Hospice, Dr. Chandramouli and staff, and all of those who made her last days comfortable. Donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.

    I will surely miss Jean. She was my friend and confidant for over 40 years. If either of us was feeling down, the other one would bring up one of the crazy or funny things we didwhen we lived on the same street. We did a lot of things to keep us from losing it altogether. I bet she’s got the angels rolling in the aisles now.
