Billy Dean Ennis*

Posted By on June 26, 2010

Billy Dean Ennis was born in Cold Water, Kansas on January 27, 1931 to Martin Harrison Ennis and Georgia Idella Steele Ennis.  He passed from this life on June 26, 2010 surrounded by his children, grandchildren and family.  He was the last living member of his family being the youngest of eight children.  He was an Army Division Veteran of the Korean War and served his country proudly.  He married the love of his life, Scharlott Ann Peacock, on August 14, 1954 in Lund, Nevada. Next month they would have been married 57 years. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple on February 4, 1965. They were the parents of seven children: Charlyn (Stephen) Warner of Grantsville, Utah; Roger (Heather) Ennis (both deceased); Kyle (Maury) Ennis of Springfield, Oregon; Joyce (Rob) Barber of Queen Creek, Arizona; Tyler (Lorna) Ennis of West Haven, Utah; Taralyn (Desi) Lewis of San Tan Valley, Arizona; and Merlin (Mandy) Ennis of  Delta, Utah.  They have 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  He worked at Dugway Proving Grounds for 47 years. He also worked at the Ritz Theater.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and had unfailing faith. He served for many years as Scoutmaster, helping numerous young men earn their Eagle Scout award. He also served as a home teacher, High Priest Group secretary, Stake Missionary and lived as a constant example to all who came in contact with him.  He had great faith in the power of the priesthood and left that great legacy of faith with his family.  He never had an unkind thing to say about anyone and loved being with his children and grandchildren whether he was hunting, fishing, going on camping expeditions or just sitting and talking with them.  He was a marvelous example of courage and undying love for his faith, his children and his wife. His twinkling smile, gentle and kind ways and voice of wisdom will be deeply missed.   There will be a viewing in his honor on Thursday, July 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street in Tooele, Utah.  Funeral services will be held at the Tooele Stake Center on Friday, July 2 at 10:00 a.m. located at 253 South 200 East, also in Tooele, Utah.  Burial will be in Lund, Nevada.
