Ernestina Abeyta Mondragon

Ernestina (Abeyta) Mondragon, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 16, 2010 surrounded by family and friends. Ernestina was born October 2, 1922 in Wagon Mound, N.M., to Omedo and Rafaelita Abeyta.

She is survived by son Alex (Maria) Mondragon and daughter Vivianne (Manny) Jaramillo of Tooele; siblings Sophie (Max) Tafoya, Margie (Erlindo) Valasques and Isabel (Joe) Archuleta of Denver, CO; Eddie (Anna) Abeyta and Emilio (Margie) Abeyta of Taos, N.M. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Climaco Mondragon, sons Elmer Mondragon, Freddy Mondragon and Jerry Mondragon; siblings Rosella (Narcciso) Romero, Emma (Tranquilino) Tafoya, Mary (Juan) Medina, Omedo Jr. (Cruz) Abeyta; grandchildren Jerry Mondragon, Paul Mondragon and Climaco James Gonzales.

She graduated from Menaul High School, Albuquerque, N.M. She held several job positions before retiring from the Tooele Army Depot. She loved spending time with her family and sharing her warm and cozy home with all. She had several hobbies of which her favorite included a short ride from Tooele west with family and her dear girlfriends.

She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Marguerite’s Catholic Church where she volunteered for various positions. She was also a member of VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

She has left us with a broken heart and tears of sadness, but with hope that we will see her again.

Visitation will be held at St. Marguerite’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 19 from 6-7 p.m., followed by the prayer of the Rosary. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m., also at St. Marguerite’s Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior.
