Doris Orr Whear
August 16, 1921 – May 5, 2010
Our sweet wife, mom, grandma, and friend, Doris Orr Whear, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 5, 2010 in Bountiful, Utah.
She was born on August 16, 1921 on Orr’s Ranch in Skull Valley, Utah, to William and Pearl Kauffman Orr, spending many years on the ranch helping her parents farm. Doris attended school in Grantsville, graduating from GHS in 1940. She married her love, Charles Keith Whear on May 2, 1941, raising four children. Doris spent many years working at Swan’s Market in Tooele, and made many great friends along the way. She was always up for a good cup of coffee and visiting with friends and family. Her family was everything to her, and we always knew how much she loved us.
Doris is survived by her husband of 69 years, Keith; children Bill Whear of Tooele, Jim (Patricia) Whear of Layton, Elaine (John) Peterson of Salt Lake City, and Sharon (Terry) Hark of Salt Lake City. She had 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. Doris is also survived by her sisters Charlotte Bell and Shirley Andrus, many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by sisters Geraldine Wright and Lorraine Speirs.
Funeral services for Doris will be Monday, May 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Tate Mortuary. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:00-10:45 a.m. Internment at the Tooele City Cemetery. The family appreciates all the love and support of the many family and friends in our lives. We love you forever and will always keep you in our hearts!!

Dear Elaine, So sorry to hear about your sweet mom passing. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I still miss talking with you about how Tooele was when we were growing up. Your mom was one of the “old time parents” that made growing up and living in Tooele a very good time for all of us.
