               Hope Jolley Hale

                   1918 – 2010

Hopie was born November 9, 1918 in Glendale, Kane County, Utah to Lovenia Ott and Francis Marion Jolley. Later her family moved to the Provo/Park City area. She lovingly talked of her grandparents, Rachel and Reuben Jolley. Hope later moved to the Los Angeles area where she met Joe Thomas, a widower with three children. They married April 15, 1956, and she became an instant mother and grandmother. Joe passed away August 7, 1967. She later met and married Alan Hale, he also passed away. Hope loved Big Bear, California and purchased a cabin, which then became her home. She loved living there, but came back to Utah in 1982 to live close to her family in Grantsville. She made friends easily, and as she had out lived many of the older ones, she still had plenty of younger ones! She touched countless lives with the service that she provided. Hope is preceded in death by husbands, parents, brothers Marcus Marion, Eugene Victor, and David Brent. She outlived, much to her regret, her three children Colleen Thomas Schofield, Norman Joe Thomas and Terrance (Terry) Frank Thomas. Survived by Daughter-in-law Sandi (Nick) Drake, Grandchildren Sheri (Hank) Thompson, Vicki Powell, James Thomas, Troy (Synda) Thomas, Kyle (Kimberly) Thomas, and Scott (Heidi) Schofield. Great-grandma to 19 much loved grandkids and 15 adored great-great grandchildren. We love you, Hopie! At her request, Hope’s body will be cremated. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Grantsville LDS Apple Street Church, 415 W. Apple St. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 -10:45 am. The Services will be at 11:00am. Much thanks to all the wonderful aides, nurses, and staff at Harmony Hospice and to Marian Elkins, family and friends who helped with her care.
