Fay Woolley Hawker, 98, beloved daughter of our Heavenly Father, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 in her Grantsville home of natural causes associated with her age. Fay is loved and greatly missed by her family and friends. Fay was born July 21, 1911 in Salt Lake City to George Edwin and Elizabeth Anderson Woolley. She is the second of three children from that union. Fay also enjoyed the loving familial association of five older half-siblings born of their widowed father’s first marriage to Luzina Rees. Frank M. Hawker and Fay Woolley were wed on November 17, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Soon afterwards they moved to their Erda farm. Frank and Fay had three children. In December 1979, Frank and Fay sold the Erda Farm and moved to Grantsville. Fay loved music. She had a wonderful alto voice and loved to sing. She was a devotee of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and cherished their weekly Sunday morning broadcasts. Fay also sought to expand her horizons. At the age of 96, she regularly exchanged e-mail messages with friends and family. Fay was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She demonstrated Christlike compassion. She not only gladly served when called, but was also a watch-person upon a tower, freely acting to fill needs as they came into view. On July 5, 2008, Fay fell and broke her hip. Still, as the bedridden weeks extended into months, she demonstrated a cheery disposition. Visitors, intent on buoying Fay’s spirits, often commented that they themselves had been uplifted by meeting with her. Fay is survived by her husband, Frank M; children Carol Malone (J. Charles), Fort Worth, Texas; Dennis W., Grantsville; and James E. (Pam) of Herriman, Utah; 10 grandchildren, two great granddaughters, and a step great grandson; her sister Thelma Fetzer, Salt Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Tyler A. Woolley; four half-sisters Leah Woolley, Mary Bennion, Alvira Woolley, Ruth Young; two half-brothers Orson Glenn Woolley and George Rees Woolley; and two granddaughters Anne and Elizabeth Hawker. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17 at 11 a.m. in the Grantsville 6th Ward chapel, 81 North Church Street, Grantsville. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the many members of the Grantsville 6th Ward, in particular Mary Thornton, for their liberal donations of time during Fay’s confinement. And to Harmony Home Health a most sincere and profound “Thank You!” for the excellent care they provided. Interment will follow the funeral services at the Grantsville City Cemetery. Fay has specifically requested that instead of flowers, contributions be made to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
