Carol Margaret Evershed Matravers passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 24, 2010. She was born March 27, 1922 in Manti, Utah to Elmer Blaine Evershed and Katie Lenora Tripp. She was the seventh of eight children in a close and loving family. She married the love her life and her eternal companion, Marvin Bernard Matravers, on August 3, 1942. They were later sealed in the Washington DC Temple Apri1 21, 1978. She was the proud and loving parent of three children: Gary (Dianne) Matravers of Tooele, Robert (Peggy) Matravers of Las Vegas, and Carol Lynn (Wayne) Durrant of Salem. Carol grew up in Manti and later Salt Lake City. After a year of college education, she was persuaded by Marvin to relocate to Chicago, a city she fell in love with and the place she would spend the next 40 years of her life raising her family. The latter years of her life were spent in St. George where she was active in the senior citizen education program associated with Dixie State College. Carol was a member of the LDS Church and served in various callings. She felt particularly blessed to serve as a full-time temple worker along with her husband in both the Washington DC and St. George Temples. She was honored to be an active participant in the St. George chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Orville; and sisters, Clara, Pearl, and Helen. She is survived by her sweetheart of 68 years, her children, 19 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren; and many beloved family members and friends. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Overlake 3rd Ward, 1717 Berra Blvd., Tooele, UT. A viewing will be held Wednesday morning from 9-9:50 a.m. Interment will follow at Manti City Cemetery, Manti, Utah at 3:30 p.m.

It has been an honor spending time with Carol. She loves her family and that will never end. Your family show a strong loving bond with your parents and take excellent care of them, as they obviously took excellent care of all of you. Prayers and condolences go out to you.
