Lola Wood Lee

Lola Wood Lee, age 92, died January 20, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Gilbert, Ariz. Lola was born June 29, 1917, to Clark S. and Alvilda K. Wood in Levan, Utah. She married George W. Lee on November 14, 1939, in Salt Lake City. After a brief time in Rio Tinto, Nev., they settled in Tooele in 1941. During her 92 years, Lola was constantly busy in activities that benefited family, friends, church, and community. As a member of the Tooele First Ward, Lola served in many ways, including 10 years as Primary president. She taught Relief Society and was a faithful visiting teacher. Her all-time favorite calling was teaching the 8-year-old class, and she loved having former students stay in touch with her through their missions and marriages. Lola enjoyed bowling and traveled throughout the country to participate in over 25 yearly tournaments with the WIBC. She was a Past Madam President of the Eagles Auxiliary and recently received a rare 60-year membership pin. She worked in the Personnel Division at Tooele Army Depot, where she excelled in teaching retirement planning classes. Lola was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Everett and Rulon Wood, sister Delma (Fred) Bennett, granddaughter Windy Dawn Lee, grandson Michael Shay Lee, and great-grandson Brighton Lee Poulsen. She is survived by sons Marvin (Bertie) Lee, Ken (Barbara) Lee, and Doug (Missy) Lee; daughters, Linda (Bill) Nelson and Kathy (Greg) Bowman; 19 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; sisters Lillis Woodall and Elaine Anderson; sisters-in-law LaVerne Wood, Jessie Wood, Lillian Hadlock, and Phoebe Myler; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Tooele Stake Center, 253 S. 2nd East, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.
