Jack Duane Skinner

Jack Duane Skinner, beloved husband, father, grandfather (Papa), brother, uncle and friend passed away Feb. 11, 2009, at Mountain West Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born March 15, 1936 to Joe and Rosa Skinner in Arapaho, Okla. Jack enlisted in the United States Army in 1954 where he met and married Virginia (Ginner) France. Together they had four children. Sadly, Ginner passed away in 1987. After Jack’s enlistment in the Army ended in 1964, he began his career as a firefighter, traveling to various states. In 1980 he accepted the position of Fire Chief at Dugway Proving Ground and continued in that position until his retirement in 1994. Jack fell in love and married his best friend Flora (Flo) in 1989. Together they had one son, Matthew. Jack was an amazing man with a heart of gold. He never met a stranger and always made everyone feel like they were someone special. He enjoyed watching the boys play sports, spending time with his grandchildren and fishing. Upon entering Jack’s home everyone was greeted by one of his special tunes and something to eat. Jack was a faithful member of St. Marguerite’s Catholic Church. Jack is survived by his wife Flo; children: James (Marcia) Skinner, Dixon, Ky.; Barbara (Marc) Waid, Stansbury Park; Tracy Mullendore, Tooele; Jacklyn (James) Killian, Roy, Utah; Jesse Chandler, Grantsville; Matthew Skinner, Stansbury Park; grandchildren: Marcie Skinner, Amanda (Chris) Rose, Cori Waid, Mackenzie Skinner, Nathan Killian and Ella Killian; great-grandchildren: Jayden Garcia, Riley Rose and Gracie Rose; special naughter Amy (Doug) Spiers; brothers: Bill (Ruth) Skinner, Guthrie, Okla.; Don (Donna) Skinner, Ringwood, Okla.; Donald Gene (Suzi) Skinner, Norman, Okla.; sister, Beulah (Max) Davidson, Ringwood Okla.; brother-in-law, Bob Hoppe, Enid, Okla.; sister-in-law, Beulah (Boots) Skinner, Enid, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn Mullendore; brother, Nathan Junior Skinner; and sister, Martha Jean Hoppe. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Feb. 20, at St. Marguerite’s Catholic Church, 155 Seventh St., Tooele at 11:00 AM. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services. Graveside services will immediately follow at Tooele City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Jack requested donations be made to St. Marguerite’s Knights of Columbus.
